Oh man. You Took Something Beautiful and Made it Canadian.

Well, my fellow Snorris are a pretty amazing bunch. It took no time at all before we were acting like we had known each other for years. It is so great to be able to talk about ammas and kleinur and know that people know what I'm talking about. Everyone here grew up hearing about Icelandic relatives, eating the traditional recipes handed down over generations and most importantly have a real interest in Iceland and that part of their ancestry. It is such a cool connection. We have had two days of language classes and already it makes tons more sense than the online class did. Tomorrow we get our geneology information and find out what famous Icelanders we are related to and how all us Snorris are related to each other (we are all related in one way or another). We are all pretty excited about that and have been trying to figure out which ones of us we think are most closely related. We will also be climbing Mt. Esja and I'm really looking forward to that. Thorin and I went with Asta Sol to the grocery store and then made dinner for the group. Turned out pretty good I think. Let's see... what else have we been up to? We went to the Culture House to see the old, old manuscripts of the sagas. We got to practice writing on calf skin with quills too, which we all got a little too involved with. Right after that we went to the Prime Minister's office but she wasn't there. We got a a quick tour of the office and asked the lady that showed us around (advisor of foreign affairs or some such thing) some questions. As we were leaving some secret servicy looking guy came in with a couple of suits going into a meeting. Wildly exciting, huh? It is midnight here, and although it is still broad daylight I guess I should make my way to bed. The rest of the gang is trickling off to bed in our cozy little house. Góða nótt.
